AIDS CURE! Awww yeah.
December 16, 2010

It’s been a good 2 weeks since my World AIDS Day post and I got an overwhelming response!  72 likes!  Awesome.  I’ll be donating the $3.60 soon!  (And then some.)
I have better news that that, though.  Way better.
It was announced yesterday in Germany that a man was cured of HIV.  CURED!  According to the Huffington Post, “Doctors believe an HIV-positive man who underwent a stem cell transplant has been cured as a result of the procedure.”  The “Berlin Patient,” or Timothy Ray Brown received the transplant in 2007 as part of a leukemia treatment (he also had HIV.)  His doctors published a report after the final procedure saying that the results of the extensive stem cell testing “strongly suggest that the cure of HIV infection has been achieved.”
You guys!  This is HUGE!  This case displays a need for constructing a permanent cure for HIV through genetically-engineered stem cells.  While this doesn’t for sure mean that there is a fast-and-steady cure, it is definitely on its way!

seeyanever, Urban Meyer.

Look what happens when your star (only)  player goes off to the NFL!  Your head coach quits!  What?  That’s right: Urban Meyer has stepped down as the Gators head coach.

It just so happens that Tim Tebow is coachless over in Denver.  Is this a coincidence?  Probably not.  See you in Colorado, Meyer.  I can already feel Tebow’s Jesus eyes crying.  It’s misty and sad.

Also: I’m blogging about sports.  WHAT has happened?!

Wonder why you were hired to be the social media consultant at a company if they only shut down every idea you have.

Begin to look into creating your own business.

I think most teen books right now are of the paranormal romance theme.  (And I can say this after having worked in the childrens’ division of a major book publishing company.) Smart marketing, though.  Way to go, B&N.

Boycott Bacardi and Mentos!
September 7, 2010

Has ANYONE seen this horrifying ad campaign?!?!?!  Bacardi Breezer had this out a year ago, urging women to “get an ugly girlfriend” to use as an accessory… to make you look better!

I die.

This is seriously one of those most horrifying things I’ve ever seen.  Or at least it was, until I saw this Mentos ad:

“I love hanging out with you.  All the boys keep looking at me.”

I don’t know which is more deplorable – Mentos using fat women as the punchline in their advertisement, or the fact that THE SKINNY WOMAN WOULD NEVER BE ABLE TO PICK THE OTHER ONE UP, so WTF?!?!?!

I’m so floored right now.  I’m going to buy Altoids and some Malibu Rum just to offset the other brands’ business.  Jesus.
