Hot Gossip!

I was traveling from the great whitegrey North on Wednesday, so I didn’t catch Gossip Girl and The CW is super tricky because they don’t let people see the episodes on their website until Saturday, so you can see the problem I had to face. It’s late, I know, so this’ll be short and sweet.

Well, the episode starts out with news of Dan Humphries being published in The New Yorker. At age 17. I’m well aware of the fictional-ness of this television show, but think I’m going to go kill myself.

I’m amazed with Blair’s capability to text with gloves on. It’s something I have yet to master…

What CAN you buy for under $50 these days?
- A single entree at a mid-priced restaurant.
- 3/4 of a DVD box set.
- A pair of stockings.

WHY DID BART BASS PROPOSE?! WHAT? NO. That is not at all how this was supposed to go down. However, Mrs. van der Woodsen never accepted and we have that cliffhanger ending with the tragic voice mail and Rufus standing outside in the cold love profession. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Other things I noticed: I didn’t mind that Nate wasn’t there. I also didn’t really mind that Jenny was just being Jenny instead of totem-pole climbing Jenny that we had begun to know and hate.

Additionally, I thought there would be a lot more tension between the Waldorf parents. At the beginning of the season, the Mrs. seemed incredibly bitter about the entire thing. Even as recently as the Thanksgiving episode, she seemed to be throwing daggers toward France. There was also no touch back on Blair’s eating disorder. In fact, the entire episode seemed light and fluffy. And I guess that’s fine, being that it’s the holiday season and all… but the Upper East Side is NEVER that warm. ;)

I can’t wait for the two-parter starting January 2nd. They’re totally hyping it up in the best possible way! I must say, as well, The CW is doing a great job of milking their shows through the writers’ strike.

Since I’m late on the update, I figured I’d spend more time on this new item on the rumor mill: there is going to be a reality version of our favorite new TV show. Just like Laguna Beach was created in light of The OC, there is going to be casting starting after the new year. TV Guide reports,

“Are you the real Gossip Girl?” the notice asks. “Maybe an adorable Seth Cohen prepster who hates TV? Either way, we’d love to chat with you. We’re looking for NYC prep-schoolers for a reality show [to air on] a major youth-oriented network.” MTV? The CW itself? Nickelodeon anxious to fill a programming hole?

And the final piece of hot gossip from the gossip show is that Blake Lively and Penn Badgley (Serena and Dan) are secretly dating in real life.

…loves it.
